About the Font
Variable digital typeface inspired by Tia Lira, designed by Manuel Pereira da Silva.
The redesign of this typeface follows a dual objective. On one hand, to harmonize the bold
variant of Tia Lira, whose characters display diverse typographic influences.
On the other hand, it aims to align it with the heavy variant, characterized by closed shapes that emphasize the character's silhouette.
Primarily intended for display use, its forms offer versatility, which is reflected in the progression from a more stripped-back and minimalist regular variant to a black variant with bolder and more distinctive shapes — creating a varied yet balanced system.
Third-year students of the Communication Design bachelor's degree. Among other interests, we share a passion for typography.
Thus, we came together in the Type Design course to create Bia Lira.
