Rita Melo holds a degree in Communication Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP), where she is currently pursuing a Master’s in Graphic Design and Editorial Projects. Her creative practice explores the intersections between editorial design, printmaking techniques, photography, illustration, and typography, resulting in graphic projects that highlight the plasticity of these mediums.
With a particular focus on analog experimentation, she uses textures, organic patterns, and materials to create editorial compositions and narratives. This process allows her to craft publications and graphic objects that balance design and technical handcraft as a form of visual expressiveness. Her approach to the materiality of design not only emphasizes its graphic and tactile dimension but also offers an immersive experience to the viewer. Her projects therefore converge in an understanding of traditional manual processes and their application in contemporary editorial design.
